Iron Sharpens Iron

Updated: Feb 24, 2019

I was with a colleague last week that is 10+ years my senior and very successful in his own right; a successful family man, business owner for many years, has a wealth of industry knowledge and strives to be the best that he can.

I discovered that he has made some very different choices than I. He unconsciously chose to not read materials and associate with others that could have helped him excel in some critical areas of his life. The difference maker were his choices.

Though your choices seem small and insignificant most of the time, it is those very choices that charts your life. The choice you made this morning, to go left, resulted in where you are right now! If you would have chosen to have turned right instead, you would have ended up in a very different place. Most of us (95%) make choices that tend to go with the ebb and flow of life (we float downstream), because we don’t have a guiding light, a passion or goal that we are striving toward. Then years later you find yourself in a place where you are disappointed with what you have done with your life, and with regrets.

Why wait for that disappointment, and lose all that precious time? You can make better choices today, but it all starts with defining what you want to accomplish, the legacy you want to leave, or considering your passion. Once your target/goal is identified and kept in focus, your choices are very simple, easier, and clear. You will then finally have chosen a consistent direction in your life…a purpose.

What impact will your choices have on where you will be in the years to come? Are you shooting for where you want to end up in life, OR just floating down stream…

You can’t rewrite the beginning of your life, but you can rewrite your ending.
