I am beginning to appreciate those that build log structures; this is a lot more labor intensive that I had originally thought. Don't get me wrong, I am thoroughly enjoying the process of learning and doing.

I originally thought of a design in which it could be towed where ever it was needed on the ranch and after I started building it, it was going to take a D10 bull dozer to move it (I inherited the 'over-kill gene). So I altered the plan and put it on a foundation. The process is slow but it is rewarding to build something with my own hands and with materials from the ranch. My notching process is getting better and faster. It is a skill set that I need to improve by the time I get to building our 1st cabin across the creek.
My goal is to have the shed enclosed by the time snow flys so that we don't have to continue to transport, equipment, tools and supplys from 4 hours away anymore...more to come. It is getting down to freezing at night now, I have no time to waste! Timber!!!
Continued:
We had some wonderful friends stop by for a day. They wanted to contribute, so they grabbed their work gloves and jumped right in. Dianne and Paula took off with the ATV and log hauler to search for planks that could be repurposed for the flooring. They had a blast digging through some old log jams and found plenty. Paul and I continued to lay logs and notch them, with great progress. Paul makes a great Log-Dog! Thank you for your contribution Paul and Dianne, you helped us tremendously.

The walls seemed to be the most labor intensive and time consuming. Once they were up, it only took 1.5 days to build the gable ends, install the ridge pole, rafters and plywood, then the tar paper and roofing! We were done, 2 days before our deadline!!! It was time to celebrate! Now we don't have to cart tools and supplies from 4 hours away. They can be securely stored on-site...

Now it is off to the next project, posting signs, critter cams, maybe some burn piles and plans for a safer ATV/trailer bridge.
I am sure that it will be wished once or twice that this little shed/shop would have been bigger. Oh my Buzz you are truly an amazing man and such a wonderful husband. I love you.
